Events and Projects coming up

Coed Panteg work days - 2nd Sunday every month.

We have a regular work days at Coed Panteg on the 2nd weekend each month.

We aim to start at around 10.30am (turn up whenever you feel like it) and we're usually there until about 5.00pm, or until dark - whichever is earlier. Hot drinks, some lunch things and biscuits will be provided but please feel free to bring things to share. If the weather is nice we may stay and have food around a fire in the evening. Some of the things we are proposing to do over the next few months include fencing, building a new shelter, making gates and scrub clearance in the clearing to keep it open. We also need to repair or rebuild the kitchen which has suffered over the winter months!

Please contact us to confirm details and times, as sometimes weather or other unforeseen events cause last minute changes to our plans.

Coppicing

Next coppicing ~ 9th to 12th March 2012

We held a weekend coppicing session in October 2011  . It went well, and another coppicing section is planned for the second weekend in March, 09-03-2012 to 12-03-2012, aiming to complete the eighth section. We have planned the dates early and late in the winter due to the arrival of Martin and Julia's new baby in early December.
We plan to do two long weekends of coppicing again in the winter 2012-2013. We will post dates here nearer the time.

Work Weeks

We currently have no plans for any work weeks apart from Coppicing. This is due to other commitments of some of the Co-op members. There maybe the opportunity to come and stay on some of the weekends in which we have a work day, please contact us if you would like to do this. We hope to be able to return to regular work weeks in the future ~ check the website for up to date info.

Barn Building

Thanks to a grant secured by Lucy, we have just (Feb 2012) had the track extended to the bottom of the meadow. At the time of writing, work is almost complete.

As well as improving access to get wood and produce out of the woodland, this will also enable us to get materials down to the meadow to build the long awaited barn. We hope it will provide storage for basic tools and equipment, a kitchen area for work days and weekends, and a sleeping platform to make it easier to stay in the woods on work weekends - hopefully we can store bedding there too.

We hope to decide the design for the barn soon, so we can then apply for funding for materials and start raising interest from volunteers to help build it. We will add details here on the wiki when we have them, so watch this space...

Please contact us for more information, or to arrange to visit at any other time.
